This is intended as an Overview of the major rule changes and clarifications
for 2004. This also include reminders from 2003. Please see 2004 US Open rules for complete details.
Competitors are responsible for reading all
General Rules and applicable
Divisional Rules.

Complete Entries must be received by October 1, 2004.
- General Rules Section G-2: Violations
- Please read this rule as it has been updated.
- Classic and Showcase Competitors
- Competitors are allowed to enter both Classic and Showcase Divisions.
Competitors are not allowed to dance with the same partner in both divisions
- Sophisticated Swing Division (35+)
- As in 2003, the age requirement to enter the Sophisticated Swing Division
is 35 years of age.
- All "Strictly" Divisions
- Entry Fee has been lowered from $75 to $50.
- No Picture submission. Pictures will not be shown in the US Open Program.
- No Bio submission. Bios will not be entered in the US Open Program.
- US Open Program will list Names and Hometowns.
- Strictly Swing Challenge Division
- Four Open Strictly Swing Divisions (West Coast, Lindy, Shag, Hand
Dance) will compete for an Overall Strictly Swing Challenge Championship.
- All "Strictly Swing" divisions are non-NASDE Divisions.
- Lifts, Drops, Side-by Sides, etc... are allowed (but not required)
to the degree that they would be considered safe and appropriate
on a social dance floor.
- All Divisions
- A restart will be allowed only if the music system falters or
an unforeseen catastrophe occurs.
- Events such as a broken dress strap, untied shoelace, etc... does
not warrant a restart.
