This is intended as an Overview of the major rule changes for 2005. It also includes reminders from 2004. Please see 2005 US Open rules for complete details. Competitors are responsible for reading all General Rules and applicable Divisional Rules. Complete Entries must be received by October 1, 2005.
- Jack & Jill Division
- An All-Star / Advanced Jack & Jill Division is new in 2005.
- This division is open to All-star and Advanced Dancers as documented in the WSDC Directory.
- Invitational and Champion level competitors are ineligible for this division.
- Junior Strictly Swing
- Youth between the ages of 6 and 18 are eligible for this division.
- Strictly Swing Challenge Division
- Competitors must participate in the Strictly Swing Challenge Championship's Final Round to be eligible for any Strictly Swing Challenge Prize Money.
- Swing Styles will be mixed when determining the Final Round Teams.
- General Rules Section G-2: Violations
- Please read this rule as it has been updated.
- Classic and Showcase Competitors
- Classic and Showcase competitors are allowed to enter both divisions. Competitors are not allowed to dance with the same partner in both divisions.
- Sophisticated Swing Division (35+)
- As in 2003, the age requirement to enter the Sophisticated Swing Divisions is 35 years of age.
- All "Strictly" Divisions
- Entry Fee has been lowered from $75 to $50
- No Picture Submission. Pictures will not be shown in the US Open Program.
- No Bio submissions. Bios will not be entered in the US Open Program.
- US Open Program will list Names and Hometowns.
- All Divisions
- A restart will be allowed only if the music system falters or an unforeseen catastrophe occurs.
- Events such as a broken dress strap, untied shoelace, etc… does not warrant a restart.
